On Saturday, January 2nd, Members from the Delaware City Fire Company and Ladies Auxiliary and guests gathered in the Memorial Hall, which was transformed into a Winter Wonderland for our annual banquet. Honorary Member Ken McMahon was the Master of Ceremonies. The evening started with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. Dinner was catered by Le Chateau Gourmet. Following dinner, the Ladies Auxiliary presented a check to the Fire Company for $40,000. During the awards portion of the evening – the following awards were presented: President-Chief Award – John Atkinson and Kyle Mench; President Emeritus Harry Bright Memorial Award – Allan MacKenzie; Presidents Award – Wade Bendler, Jasper Lakey and Mike McMichael; Chief Emeritus Award – Mike Miklus; Chief’s Award – Bucky Finnegan and Wally Poppe; Vincent F. Malloy - Michelle L. Smith Emergency Responder of the Year Award - Mark Breeding. Many service awards for years of service to the company were also presented as well as Top Responder awards and Fire School hour awards. The Active Crew of both the Fire Company and Ladies Auxiliary were given a Microfiber jacket with the Fire Company or Ladies Auxiliary Emblem on it. The awards were followed by a great slide show composed by Dave Jones. Dancing, fun and socializing followed. Music was provided by Albert S. Entertainment. Breakfast was then cooked and served (Thanks to Bucky & Tammy Finnegan, Schuyler and Maggie Jones, Laurie Smith, Jim Watson, Christine Reeder and Patti Schrack for doing the cooking). The officers and members of the Delaware City Fire Company would like to thank the Greenridge, PA Fire Company and David C. Harrison American Legion Post #1 for providing Fire and EMS over-ups for the evening, and Gina Smith, Don Winnington and Mike Edwards from the Christiana Fire Company for bartending for the evening.
